Restoration Appeal

The above 100-year-old building was funded and built by the community and dedicated to the local soldiers who lost their lives in WW1.

St Andrew’s Inglewood Parish have almost raised $400,000. Ardern Peters Architect & Project Manager commenced in February 2024 to prepare the design and plans. The church community cannot restore this building by themselves.

The restoration process includes finding an additional $400,000 from the community.

We believe community services could be operated from the restored church. This could provide additional benefits to the Inglewood community and beyond.

This building belongs to the Inglewood community and is held in Trust by the Taranaki Anglican Trust Board.

The building is currently closed due to being an earthquake risk.

Have your say about St Andrew’s Future!

Tell us what you think about plans to reopen St Andrews — restoring, earthquake strengthening and redeveloping this historic landmark so it can be used as a church and a multipurpose community space for generations to come.

Our goal is to raise $400,000 to match the parish’s pledge and demonstrate to major funders that the restoration of St Andrews is a project supported by the Inglewood/Taranaki community.

100th year celebration

The 1st of July 2023 was exactly the 100th year since the current church was built in 1923. That was not the first Anglican service in Inglewood which was held by Rev. Handley Brown on 13th June 1875. The current church was dedicated to those who had lost their lives in the 1st World War. A marble tablet inside the church contains the names of 137 men who died overseas. In November 2019 the church was closed due to being classified an earthquake risk.
