St Andrew’s Heritage Church was closed in January 2019.

It was based on a theoretical calculation and we are now finding out what the real issues and strength are. The Parish have appointed Ardern Peter’s Architect and Project Manager and work has begun with a team of engineers and other experts to prepare restoration concepts.

We anticipate the Architect will present initial concepts in September 2024.

A Feasibility Study completed in 2023 estimated a budget of $2.3million and this will be verified at the end of this year when construction quotations are gathered. The Parish have almost accumulated $400,000 and we need a further $400,000 from the community. There is no way that St Andrew’s Parish can restore this building by themselves.

This is a “community” project. The restored St Andrew’s Historic Building will provide additional space for the wider community. We envisage having this building open 7 days a week by creating a community center.

The Parish Vestry are interested in setting up an Independent Fund Raising Committee that would represent a Community Centre. They would have responsibility for managing the Restoration Fund Raising process and ensure funds are directed to St Andrew’s restoration.

To attract full support from funding agencies we need to demonstrate that the general public in Inglewood, New Plymouth and Taranaki support this project and will use this facility. A Church is a spiritual space and we are looking to extend services that create “wellbeing” into the community. St Andrew’s Inglewood already use their hall for dance, yoga, craft users, new mothers support, birthdays, celebrations, funerals and Church services.

We need St Andrew’s restored to enable community services to thrive.

The St Andrews Restoration Project is complex yet provides hope for restoring this Historic building.

We are a Charitable Entity and restoration donations will be recognised by a receipt which is tax deductible up to the amount of your income.
